Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin Nurse Wins Prestigious Award at INMO Annual Delegate Conference
Press Release

Ms Linda Phelan, Senior Staff Nurse, Our Lady's Children’s Hospital, Crumlin received the prestigious Gobnait O’Connell Award at the recent Annual Delegate Conference of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) in Wexford. Linda was nominated for this award, which commemorates the late Gobnait O’Connell, by her colleagues from the INMO’s National Children’s Nurses Section - Eileen Tiernan (Chair); Anne McLaughlin (Vice Chair) and Bairbre Webb (Secretary).

The award is presented annually in memory of Gobnait, who died tragically in a car accident some years ago, in recognition of her contribution to nursing and midwifery in Ireland. It is given every year to a local representative who has given great service to the Organisation in a manner which seeks to enhance the interests and welfare of their local colleagues.

According to her colleagues Linda always promotes the INMO and is available at all times for support, advice and guidance for nurses. She enthusiastically communicates with clarity, precision and a smile and never makes them feel like they are imposing on her time.

Linda is a long time stalwart of the INMO’s Dublin South West Area Branch and is a most deserving winner as, for those who know her will readily agree, her energy is boundless, her enthusiasm never ending and her professionalism unquestionable

Linda received her award, at an awards dinner on Thursday evening, May 4th.

Speaking following the award INMO General Secretary, Liam Doran said:

“Linda is one of the most loyal and dedicated members of the INMO it has been my privilege to meet.  She is a true professional, portraying a calm demeanour and always makes herself available to listen to members. She is a steadfast member of the INMO who works quietly behind the scenes for members.

She has shown incredible commitment to the Organisation and to the members she represents.   Linda truly deserves this award and I thank her sincerely, on behalf of all of us in the INMO, for her sterling work for both members and patients.”
