Louise Brent was awarded this year’s CJ Coleman award. The title of her research project was ‘Improving Hip Fracture Care in Ireland: The collaboration of the Irish Hip Fracture Database (IHFD) and the Development of a National Integrated Care Pathway for hip fracture’.
Louise is an arthroplasty nurse co-ordinator in Waterford Regional Hospital and is the lead clinical nurse for the HSE’s National Clinical Programme for Orthopaedics and Trauma.

A bursary of €1,000 is awarded for a completed and previously unpublished research project that promotes and improves the quality of patient care and/ or staff working conditions in an innovative way.
An evaluation panel selects the winner by scoring the projects independently, against a criteria matrix.
