INMO Executive Council Defers Planned Industrial Action On Recommendation From ED National Representative Committee
Monday, 11th January 2016
I wish to advise you that the INMO Executive Council, at its meeting earlier today, on the recommendation of our ED National Representative Committee, has decided to defer planned industrial action scheduled for next Thursday, 14th and Tuesday, 26th January 2016.
This deferral is to allow members be informed of, and ballot on, a revised set of measures, which expand on the earlier rejected agreement, from the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) which were finalised earlier today.
The Executive Council, in making this decision, was wholly influenced by the views, from a meeting earlier today, of the ED National Representative Committee. This committee felt that the revised proposals which focus on:
were capable of addressing the significant absence of communication, trust and confidence, felt by ED staff, on the implementation of earlier proposals.
The INMO will now begin a new round of information meetings, which will be followed by balloting, of all of our members in the country’s Emergency Departments. This will commence later this week and will run for just over three weeks.
The Executive Council, at its meeting this evening, has also called for the various structures, within the revised proposals, to be established and initiated immediately. This includes the need for all Group Chief Executive Officers, together with their senior management team, to meet, this week, with our Emergency Department representatives, in all departments, to begin demonstrating how all measures, in the proposals and escalation policy, will be implemented on a 24/7 basis.
As quickly as we can we will have copies of the revised proposals made available to you. This will be followed up with information meetings, as quickly as these can be arranged, beginning with the seven locations previously scheduled to have industrial action next Thursday, 14th January 2016.
On behalf of my Executive Council I wish to thank all members of our ED National Representative Committee who have clearly informed, and influenced, the nature and shape of these revised proposals.
Please watch out for further information bulletins, and meetings, in the coming days.
