Reminder: Executive Council Elections 2024-2026
Update: 7th March 2024

Dear Member,

By now you will have received your ballot form for upcoming Executive Council elections 2024-2026 in the WIN with freepost envelope to return.

Guidelines for casting your ballot:

You are asked to indicate your preference for the candidates by placing X in 14 slots for the clinical seats and separately indicating 3 of the 4 candidates in the management category as there are 3 seats but 4 candidates.

All votes carry equal value and placing an X or a number does not change the manner in which the count will be conducted. The count will be based on the candidates with the most votes that means that identifying 1-3 in numerical form in the management category carries the same value as X.

If more than 14 X votes are cast in the clinical seat or more than 3 votes are cast in the management seat without identifying which candidate falls outside the allowed number i.e. 14 for the clinical seat or 3 for the management seat, this would be considered a spoiled vote as it would not be possible to determine which candidate should be excluded.

There is no difference to the value of any vote as the count is based on highest numbers of votes cast per candidate.  Therefore, please have your say vote for your 14 clinical preferences out of 24 total candidates. In addition, please vote for 3 out of the 4 total candidates in management seats.

We request that you place an X in the paper, however, the returning officer will accept a clear indication of vote i.e.

  • ☑ or ⮽ or 1-14 Clincial Category
  • ☑ or ⮽ or 1-3 Management Category

Please note print error on ballot form/biographical details – clinical category:

  • Ralph Brennan - work location listed as Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Navan, Co Meath, which is incorrect it is Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, Co Louth.

Automatically Elected - 1 Reserved Seat Registered Sick Children’s Nurse

  • Bairbre Webb-O’Maolagáin is elected to Registered Sick Children’s Nurse was shown as Student – 1 reserved seat

Kind regards,

Edward Mathews
Deputy General Secretary
