The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has welcomed the publication of the ‘Acute Mental Healthcare in Hospital Emergency Departments in Ireland’ report carried out by the Mental Health Commission.

INMO members in the public service are now being asked to vote on proposals that resulted from talks at the WRC on March 30th. An explanatory document and supporting information provide details of each element of the proposals. Members are urged to read this document in advance of voting in this ballot.

Members will be balloted on WRC proposals relating to the INMO claim for measures to address the non-filling, and delayed filling, of vacant and suppressed posts and the associated and increasingly unsafe staffing levels in nursing and midwifery.

Your Executive Council have taken the decision to suspend the work-to-rule that was due to begin on Monday 31st March to allow a ballot of members to take place on the proposals. We will now be organising workplace meetings to give you more information. 

The INMO alongside Fórsa, Connect, MLSA and Unite trade unions attended a conciliation conference with the HSE in the Workplace Relations Commission yesterday (Thursday).
