Over fifty nursing and midwifery posts are being left unfilled in Tipperary University Hospital, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

As you are aware the INMO, and the other Unions have been objecting to the employment control process currently in place, referred to by the HSE as “Pay & Numbers Strategy”. As a result of this Pay & Numbers Strategy posts within the services which you work are not being filled or replaced.  In addition, the number of staff within your Departments and Units is being further reduced by the number of vacancies that existed but were not occupied within the HSE at the end of December 2023...

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has said large gaps in the nursing and midwifery workforce are impacting the ability of its members to provide safe care. The union is to begin balloting its members for industrial action on Monday 14th October....

INMO members are holding a protest at St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny at lunchtime today, alongside colleagues in Fórsa and SIPTU trade unions, to protest the implementation of the HSE’s recent Pay and Numbers Strategy.
