The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has called on the HSE to take extra measures to protect the nursing and midwifery workforce.

HSE derogation policy

Over 70,275 patients went without a bed in Irish hospitals in 2021, according to figures published today by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

The INMO has reiterated its calls for hospitals to take the decision to curtail all non-emergency activity and for greater measures to be taken to reduce workplace transmission of COVID-19 in our hospitals.  

Upon the publication of today’s TrolleyWatch figures which show 287 patients on trolleys, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has called on the HSE to publish and implement a Plan B for dealing with the capacity crisis that is escalating within our public acute hospital system.

An updated circular was issued from the HSE late last evening in respect of protocol for derogation of HCW who are deemed close contacts. We will review and revert to HSE in respect of implications for members.
