Derogation for return to work of Healthcare Workers

An updated circular was issued from the HSE late last evening in respect of protocol for derogation of HCW who are deemed close contacts. We will review and revert to HSE in respect of implications for members.

Some members have contacted us today raising the issue of reimbursement for antigen tests. We have therefore raised this with the HSE today and await their response. In the meantime, if you were derogated to return to work and mandated to use antigen tests, please keep a copy of the receipt. We will update you when we receive any further information on this matter.

Latest PPE Update 23rd December 2021

Please see link to letter below which was issued to professor Martin Cormican last evening. This afternoon we have been notified that FFP2 masks are now being provided and recommended in all settings  we will keep you updated in respect of Air Hygiene  and continue to raise these issues on your behalf.

HSE-AMRIC guidance on the use of PPE in health facilities has been updated today.   One of the main changes in this guidance is that respirator masks (FFP2) are to be worn by healthcare workers in all settings where they are caring for patients.

Respirator masks (FFP2) will also be offered to patients in multi-bed or open areas who are able to wear them. This is effective from today, and supplies of FFP2 masks will be made available to all staff.
Surgical masks should be worn by all healthcare workers for interactions with other healthcare workers in healthcare settings where patients are not cared for.
This applies to all healthcare settings, including primary, secondary, tertiary care, the National Ambulance Service and vaccination centres.
