Recognition for our work, podcast, overtime rates

I am writing to ask for your support in progressing the claim for tangible recognition for healthcare workers due to the incredible work done and sacrifices made during the pandemic.

The INMO has been calling for real compensation since last year. That claim is currently before the Workplace Relations Commission, with further hearings next month.

In the meantime, we want to build political pressure on this issue. We’re asking members to write to their local TDs to ask for their support. You can find out who your TDs are here, along with their contact details.

Sending a quick, polite, personal message is the most effective method. We want to ensure that this issue is approached from every angle – so would hugely appreciate if you have a moment to contact your representatives.

Other updates:

The latest edition of the mental health podcast for nurses and midwives, Let’s Talk About It, is online now. Episode four looks at the real lived experiences of eating disorders, depression, and bipolar disorder. The episode features disabilities nurse, Johnny Hunt, and is well worth your time. The podcast is produced for INMO members by Cornmarket.

I also wrote to you recently about improved rates for overtime, which sees a return to pre-2013 overtime rates, as part of the Building Momentum agreement which members backed last year. The documents putting those new overtime rates has been formally issued. If you have any difficulty accessing these new rates or have any questions, please contact your local industrial relations officer or the INMO information office
