Following the breakdown of talks at the Workplace Relations Commission, between several Government Departments and the INMO, SIPTU and FORSA, ballots for industrial action up to and including strike will now take place in Section 39 organisations.
This has been a long-standing dispute for INMO members in the community and voluntary sector. Our members working in these services are providing vital health and social care services on behalf of the state and are paid substantially less that their colleagues in the HSE.
This undervalues their work and is creating a recruitment and retention crisis for the services, and service users are suffering from delayed, unsafe, and unavailable services as a result.
