Recruitment freeze will send healthcare into free fall

Responding to the announcement that the HSE is to impose a recruitment freeze on certain health care workers, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has stated that although Nurses and Midwives are exempt from this freeze, an embargo on recruitment among healthcare workers will have a direct impact on their ability to deliver safe care.

592 patients on trolleys is a high risk event

592 patients are being treated on trolleys, chairs and other inappropriate bed spaces across Irish hospitals today according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation. 

Mindset shift needed to tackle trolley crisis

Over 10,018 patients went without a bed in Irish hospitals in September according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation. Over 202 children without a bed in September. So far in 2023, 2,523 children under the age of sixteen have been treated on a trolley or chair. 

Nurses Still Waiting on Pandemic Bonus

Over fifteen community intervention team nurses in SouthDoc and thirty-eight community intervention team nurses in CareDoc in Wexford, Waterford, Wicklow, Kilkenny, Carlow and Tipperary have yet to receive the Pandemic Recognition Payment according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
