On World Menopause Day, the INMO has published results of a member survey on experiences of menopause, in which most respondents (82%) stated they had considered leaving work due to menopausal symptoms, with more than 1 in 10 (12%) of respondents already leaving or having left their profession as a result.

Responding to Health measures announced in Budget 2022, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has said that not enough detail has been outlined by the Minister and his Department in relation to the allocation of spending for the year ahead.

Commenting on Budget 2022, the INMO has called for the allocation to health spending to be used efficiently. 

INMO members in Connolly Hospital will protest outside the hospital on Monday to highlight excessive workloads and consequential increasingly unsafe conditions.

On a daily basis, the ICU in St. Vincent’s University Hospital is running with 30% of its nursing shifts vacant. The hospital continues to operate 18 ICU beds despite pleas from nurses in the hospital to curtail services or divert patients to other hospitals. 

New research by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has found that 97% of nurses and midwives believe that COVID-19 has had a negative psychological impact on the profession.
