Third level student health nurses section

Who is this section for?

This section is for nurses working in Institutes of Technology, Technological Universities and Universities, who have responsibility for third level student health. 

Aims and objectives

The aims of this scetions are

  • To promote agreed professional standards of nursing practice in accordance with the guidelines set down by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. 
  • To be a source of expertise on nursing practice in areas of student health 
  • To ensure and facilitate ongoing education and professional development. The ultimate objective is to devise a dedicated educational component for  
  • nurses engaged in student health. 
  • To promote agreed best practice protocols, policies, and guidelines supported by evidence-based research. 
  • To liaise with statutory bodies relevant agencies and others regarding student health ensuring a nursing voice to influence policy both nationally and internationally. 
  • To promote and represent the professional interests of nurses working in student health 
  • To provide a support network for those employed in the area of health 
  • To recognise the need for dignity and respect for all. 

Mission statement

The mission of this section is “to consolidate and support nurses employed in 3rd level institutions, thus ensuring the delivery of best practice to promote and advance student health”. Members believe that this section will provide the opportunity to network together and share knowledge which will enhance and develop the service being provided to students in all third level colleges in Ireland.
